Vryheidsoorlog is the Afrikaans term for "War of Freedom". (An alternative term is Vryheidsstryd = "struggle for freedom".)

This originally referred to the two wars fought against the British by the two Boer Republics (see South African War), but has been broadened to be a general term as well, including references to such wars elsewhere, as well as the South African "Struggle for Freedom" of the 1960-1990 period.
