The original play

Written, performed and published in 1969. It had its première at the Nederlandse Comedie in Amsterdam; directed by Claus, with Elisabeth Andersen (Jeanne), Fons Rademakers (Georges), Paul Cammermans (Erik) and Kitty Courbois (Christiane).

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Afrikaans by Tine Balder and Louis van Niekerk of Hugo Claus's 1969 play Vrijdag.

Performance history in South Africa

1971: Presented by PACT in the Breytenbach Theatre?*/Arena Theatre*? . Directed by Schalk Jacobsz, designs by David Lister. The cast were Carel Trichardt, Leonora Nel and Paul Eilers.
