Phiri is a celebrated South African version of the English play, adapted and directed by Barney Simon for the Phoenix Players in 1972.

Volpone by Ben Jonson. Written 1606. * First performed in South Africa in 18/19*. Performed by NTO in 1952, as part of the Van Riebeeck Festival and directed by Leonard Schach with Pieter Geldenhuys, Gerrit Wessels, Vivienne Drummond, Edna Jacobson, Frank Wise and Siegfried Mynhardt.
