Vlug van die Seemeeu ("Flight of the seagull") is an Afrikaans/English film by Koos Roets (1942-).

(Usually written Vlug van die seemeeu in Afrikaans, and also released internation ally in an English version as Flight of the Seagull)

The film

A drama about a famous conductor and composer, who is involved in a hit-and-run accident while in a drunken stupor following the break-up of his engagement, and is thus imprisoned. When later released for good behaviour, he is shocked by the hypocrisy of people who had formerly admired him.

Released in South Africa by Quadro Films in 1972, produced by Dawie Fourie (David Johannes Fourie), written and directed by Koos Roets.

The cast consisted of Don Leonard, Pieter Joubert, Trudi du Plessis, Liberace, Wena Naudé, Sann de Lange, Wilna Snyman, Wilma Stockenström, Pieter Geldenhuys, Ilse van Niewenhuizen, Mees Xteen, Pieter Fourie, Dawie Maritz and Doreen Lamb, with John Dercksen and Siegfried Mynhardt as uncredited actors.

Music by Eric Smith, cinematography by Koos Roets (assisted by Uwe Beckmann, Jakes Roos and Tokkie Wehmeyer), editing by Mac Errington (as Malcolm Burns Errington, and assisted by Johann Schutte and Tokkie Wehmeyer), makeup by John Dercksen, sound by Willie du Toit and production management by De Wet Groenewald.
