Vildanden is a play in five acts by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906).

The original text

Published in Copenhagen by Gyldendal, 1884. The play was firt performed on 9 January 1885 at Den Nationale Scene, Bergen, Norway.

Performance history in South Africa

1948: The Wild Duck was presented by the University of Cape Town’s Speech and Drama Department at the Little Theatre in September, directed by Rosalie van der Gucht. It is not clear which translation was used.
