Uit die Bloute ("Out of the Blue") is a musical based on the works of South African author, poet and journalist Eugène Marais (1871-1936).

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1996: Directed by Ilse van Hemert and performed by Gys de Villiers and Anna-Mart van der Merwe. Abraham Helberg and Lizanne Helberg, of the group "Marimba!", performed on stage with the actors. Design was by James MacNamara and Tjaart Booysens. The play opened at KKNK in 1996 (and (for Van Hemert was awarded the De Kat/Herrie Prize for her production). It then toured country-wide and was very popular with audiences.
