The orignal text
Subtitled "een liefdesgeschiedenis" ("a love story") and styled a "Dramatische Scherts" ("a dramaticised joke"), this may in fact be a parody version of a great number of plays on the subject written in the 18th and 19th centuries. (see for example the publication Russia and the Low Countries: An International Bibliography, 1500-2000 by Roger Tavernier (2002)[1])
