Top Down by Muntu wa Bachaki (1950-2020)

The original text

A workshopped play about the corruption of school principals, their lackeys and their white superiors in the Bantu Education system in the mid 1970s during the Soweto uprising. A synopsis published in 1989 in Maske und Kothurn 35, 1:81-85. [see Kruger, 1999, p241].

Performance history in South Africa

1988: Directed by Muntu wa Bachaki. Cast : Jake Mochidi Chika, Thulani Sifeni. First performed by Bachaki Theatre in 1988. The play also toured in England and Switzerland in the late 1980s.
