Tom Foolery

Tom Foolery is a musical revue based on lyrics and music that Tom Lehrer first performed in the 1950s and 1960s. Devised and produced by Cameron Mackintosh and Robin Ray, it premiered in London at the Criterion Theatre, directed by Gillian Lynne, on 5 June 1980. Occasionally written Tomfoolery.

Performance history in South Africa

1981: Presented by Pieter Toerien and Shirley Firth, by arrangement with Herbert de Leon Ltd, at the Intimate Theatre, Johannesburg, and the Baxter Theatre, Cape Town. Directed by the British director Geoffrey Ferris, with Michael McGovern, Andre Hattingh, Tim Plewman and Jonathan Rands. Music directed by Howard Morgan.

1989: Presented by Pieter Toerien Productions, opening 4 February at the Leonard Rayne Theatre starring Richard Loring, Paul Ditchfield, Mark Richardson and others, before moving to the Theatre on the Bay from 2-20 May 1989.

2010: Directed by Greg Homann at the Old Mutual Theatre on the Square, 2010, starring Kate Normington, Malcolm Terrey and Matthew Stewardson.
