Tobias and the Angel is a play by Scottish playwright James Bridie [1] (1888-1951).


The original text

The play was written in 1930 and based on Bridie's experiences while he was in the medical corps during World War One (1914-1918).


South African productions

1944: Presented by the Eoan Dramatic Group in Cape Town, 1944, directed by Rosalie van der Gucht.

1955: Produced by NTO in 1955, directed by Elizabeth Sneddon, with Frank Wise, Peter Boyce, Pieter Geldenhuys, Zoë de Villiers, Joanna Douglas, Leonard Graham, Brian Proudfoot, Jane Potgieter, Glenys Morgan.
