To What Red Hell, by British playwright Percy Robinson, first performed in 1926, was successful and twice made into a silent film. It is a melodrama concerning the death penalty. The body of a woman is found in a boarding house. At first she appears to have gassed herself, but it turns out that she has been strangled.
