Biography
He studied at the University of Cape Town, and in 1976 joined the department of Afrikaans en Neerlandistiek ("Afrikaans and Dutch studies") in the School of Languages at Rhodes University in Grahamstown.

He has been the Chair of the Rhodes University's Theatre Management Committee
