The Whole Truth is a play written by British playwright and screenwriter Philip Mackie (1918-1985) [1].

Made into a British thriller film in 1958 [2].

Adapted and translated into Afrikaans by Mariechen Naudé, titled Die Houtjie van die Galg (sometimes Houtjie van die Galg). Full-length. Cast: mixed.

Performance history in South Africa

1957: Presented by Anthony Farmer Productions at the Library Theatre, Johannesburg, starring John Boulter, John Hayter, Harold Lake, Valerie Philip, Tessa Laubscher, Elizabeth Meyer and Bob Wilson.

1970: The Afrikaans translation, Houtjie van die Galg, was staged by PACOFS, directed by Gerrit Geertsema, with Lorraine Fourie (Deenie), Will Bernard (Leon Paulsen), Annie Basson (Belinda), Louise Mollett-Prinsloo (Besoeker), Johan Botha (Hugo Cornelissen), Jan Prinsloo (Kapt. de Bruyn) and George Barnes (Sers. Pretorius). Designed by Bill Smuts.
