Performance history in South Africa
1957: Presented by Anthony Farmer Productions starring John Boulter, John Hayter, Harold Lake, Valerie Philip, Tessa Laubscher, Elizabeth Meyer and Bob Wilson.
1970: The Afrikaans translation, Houtjie van die Galg, was staged by PACOFS, directed by Gerrit Geertsema, with Lorraine Fourie (Deenie), Will Bernard (Leon Paulsen), Annie Basson (Belinda), Louise Mollett-Prinsloo (Besoeker), Johan Botha (Hugo Cornelissen), Jan Prinsloo (Kapt. de Bruyn) and George Barnes (Sers. Pretorius). Designed by Bill Smuts.
