The Typewriter is a play in three acts by French writer, designer, playwright, artist and filmmaker Jean Cocteau (1889-1963) [1].

The original text

Originallly written in French, entitled La machine à écrire, 1941.

Translations and adaptations

The English translation was published by D. Dobson, 1947.

Performance history in South Africa

1957: Presented by the University of Cape Town's University Dramatic Society at the Little Theatre in August, directed by Dorothy Fairlie.
