The Sorrows of Satan is a novel by Marie Corelli (1855–1924)[1].


Published in 1895, the immensely popular novel has been dramatized and filmed a number of times.

The Sorrows of Satan by Creagh Henry

A stage play called The Sorrows of Satan, written by Creagh Henry and based on the Corelli novel, opened at the Broadway Theatre, New York, on December 24, 1898.

Films based upon the book include Leaves from Satan's Book (1921) and The Sorrows of Satan (directed by D.W. Griffith, 1926).

In 2017 an Off West End musical version of the novel, also called The Sorrows of Satan, was written and produced by Luke Bateman and Michael Conley[2]
