The Silent System is a farce in one act by Thomas J. Williams (1824-1874)[1].

First performed in London at the Strand Theatre on 3 July 1862. Published by T.H. Lacy.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1868: Performed by the Le Roy-Duret Company on 13 January in the Harrington Street Theatre, Cape Town, with The Merchant of Venice (Shakespeare) and a dance by Miss Clara.

1870: Performed as The Silent System in the Institute Assembly Hall, Cape Town, by The Young Men's Institute and Club Dramatic Company on 24 May, with Living Too Fast (Troughton).
