by Douglas Livingstone. A radio play. A wry reworking of Luis De Camoens’ epic poem ‘’The Lusiads’’, about the Adamastor myth., through which Livingstone parodies the European-African encounter. Broadcast 1963, it was awarded BBC/Federal Broadcasting Corporation Prize 1963. It was first staged in 1970/71*? by the Theatre Workshop Company of the University of Natal, under the direction of Pieter Scholtz. Published in Theatre Two in 1981 (ed. Stephen Gray, pub.
