A play by American playwright and educator Milan Stitt [1] (1941-2009). The original play was based on a real life 1919 trial for the murder of a nun in Michigan. Writing on the play began in 1965 and debuted in 1971; it finally appeared on Broadway in 1976.

Presented by Pieter Toerien, opening at the André Huguenet Theatre, first performance 23 April 1985, starring Amanda Strydom (Sister Rita), Joe Stewardson (Toby Felker), Andrew Buckland (Father Rivard), Valerie Dunlop (Mrs Shandig), John Whiteley ((Monsignor Nicholson), Drummond Marais (Prosecutor), Edwin van Wyk (Amos), Louise Saint Claire ((Erna Prindle) and Gaynor Young (Louise), directed by Rex Garner.
