The Rope by Eugene O'Neill

The original text

A one act play about one act play about a farmer who welcomes his prodigal son home, but then encourages him to fasten a noose around his neck, written by Eugene O'Neill (1888–1953)[1]. The text was first published January 1, 1919, by Random House, Inc.

Translations and adaptations

Translated and adapted into Afrikaans by Gerrit Geertsema as Die Tou. The performance script published by DALRO in 1969.

Adapted for television and shown on American Playwrights Theater: The One-Acts (TV Series) om 1989, directed by Lela Swift with a stellar cast including Elizabeth Ashley, Brad Davis and José Ferrer.
