The Rent Day is a domestic drama in two acts by Douglas Jerrold (1803-1857)[1].

The original text

First performed as at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on January 25 1832, and and published by C. Chapple, London in the same year.

Performance history in South Africa

1854: Performed as The Rent-Day on 5 June in the Garrison Theatre by the Garrison Players and some local Amateurs, with The Spitalfields Weaver (Bayly) and The Queen's Horse (Honan and Planché).
