The Red Lamp is a play in four acts by W.O. Tristram (W. Outram Tristram, 1859-1915)[1]

The original text
A popular melodrama set in Russia, it was first produced at the Comedy in 1884 became a popular vehicle for Max Beerbohm Tree and his company, with long runs at Theatre Royal, Haymarket, London till deep into the 1890s. Performed in Australia on 12 November 1887, by a local company featuring inter alia Herbert Flemming.

1898: Performed by Leonard Rayne and his company as part of his repertoire for the season, appearing inter alia at the Opera House, Cape Town.
