The Picnic is a children's operetta composed by J.R. Thomas (1829/30?-1896)[1], with a libretto by George Cooper (1840-1927)[2].

Also billed as "a cantata for schools" the work, first published by Oliver Ditson & Co., Boston, and dated 1869.
