Originally a French novel, Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux (published as a serial in Le Gaulois September 1909 to January 1910; as a novel in April 1910 by Pierre Lafitte).

2004: Opened in at the Opera House, Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town and at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria.

2011 - 2012: Produced by Pieter Toerien, opened at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town and at the Teatro at Montecasino in Johannesburg.
