Performance history in South Africa

Directed by Rosalie van der Gucht at the Little Theatre, Cape Town, in 1952, the year it celebrated its 21st birthday.

In 1981 Dieter Reible did a memorable Afrikaans production of the trilogy for CAPAB. Entitled Die Oresteia-Trilogie, it was translated by Merwe Scholtz, and starred Wilna Snyman, Johan Malherbe, Marthinus Basson, Grethe Fox and Marga van Rooy. Decor and costumes by Raimond Schoop, lighting by Leon Benzakein.
