The Old Chateau, or A Night of Peril is a play in 3 acts by Joseph Stirling Coyne (1803-1868)[1]

The original text

First performed at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, London on 24 July 1854, and published by Thomas Hailes Lacy in 1854.

Performance history in South Africa

1862: Performed as The Old Chateau, or A Night of Peril by Clara Tellett and her company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on 26 June, with Hunting a Turtle (Selby).

1862: Performed by Clara Tellett and her company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on 7 July, with as Take Care of Dowb (Morton).
