The Night of the Iguana [1] is a 1961 play by American playwright Tennessee Williams (1911-1983) [2].

The original text

Based on a short story of the same name wrtitten by Williams in 1948.

Translations and adaptations

Two film adaptations have been made, including the Academy Award-winning 1964 film directed by John Huston and starring Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, and Deborah Kerr. The other is a 2000 Serbo-Croatian production.

1962: Directed by Leonard Schach, performed by the Cockpit Players (then known as Leonard Schach Productions) in Johannesburg, as well as Cape Town. Cast members included Siegfried Mynhardt, Diane Wilson (Hilda), Margaret Inglis, Kerry Jordan, Michael McGovern (Rev Shannon), Justin Scholte (Pancho), Bill Brewer (Hank), Paddy Canavan, Matias Fernandez (Pedro), Marjorie Gordon (Maxine Faulk), Len Dayler (Wolfgang), Yossi Graber (Herr Fahrenkopf) and Estelle Kohler.
