The Mother-in-Law is the title given by D.C. Boonzaier (1923) for an anonymous play performed in Cape Town in 1894.

The original text

Though Bosman (1980:p. 398, footnote 136) suggests this may be (a dramatised version of) a satirical work by George R. Sims (1847-1922)[1], called Memoirs of a Mother-in-Law (London, George Newnes, 1892), it may also be a reference to How to Tame Your Mother-in-Law, a one-act farce Henry James Byron (1835-1884)[] (originally produced at the Strand Theatre, London, May 30th, 1864).
