The Moon is Blue [1] is a 1951 romantic comedy play by American playwright F. Hugh Herbert (1897-1958) [2].

It was a Broadway hit in the early '50s. The entire action of the play takes place in New York City within 24 hours in Spring 1951. Opened in Henry Miller's Theatre on Broadway 8 May 1951.

1959: Staged by the Brian Brooke Company, directed by Petrina Fry, with Heather Lloyd-Jones (Patty O'Neill), Robert Cheetham (Don Gresham), Brian Brooke (David Slater) and Aubrey Louw (D.S. Michael O'Neill). Decor by Pamela Lewis.

1977: Produced by Brian Brooke at the Brooke Theatre (27 July - 8 October), with a cast including Clive Scott and Elizabeth Rae.
