First performed at the Olympic Theatre, London, in 1851 and published in London by T.H. Lacy in the same year.

1861: Performed as The Lonely Man of the Ocean in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town by the Cape Town and Royal Alfred Dramatic Club on 11 February, "with new scenery and mechanical arrangements by Mr T. Baines".
1865: Performed as The Lonely Man of the Ocean in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on 4 December by the Ray and Cooper company, with The Belle of the Village (Byron)
1865: Performed as The Lonely Man of the Ocean in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on 7 December by the Ray and Cooper company, with The Virginia Mummy (Anon.).
