The Last Voyage

by Pauline Smith. A one-act play written in 1929 about an impoverished couple. In the play the husband has secretly saved fifty pounds so that he may go on a voyage to England. This voyage is particularly important becuase of his recent illness, yet a problem arises when his grandson gets ill and needs fifty pounds for an operation. The play was first performed in Grahamstown in 1969 under the direction of Rosalie van der Gucht. Published in Play Spectrum (ed H. Houghton-Hawksley, pub David Philip, 1986).
