The Jilt is a comedy in five acts by Dion Boucicault (1820-1890)[1]

The original text

This was Boucicault's last play, which he referred to in an interview as "one of English country life, something after the fashion of my London Assurance[2]. It was first performed by Boucicault and his company in San Francisco on 15 May, 1885, and then at the Princess of Wales's Theatre, London, 29 July 1886.

Performance history in South Africa

1886: Performed by Madame Pearmain and her company as part of a short season of eleven plays put on by a company brought to the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, by Madame Pearmain, from 22 November onwards.
