The Italian Straw Hat, 1851, (original title in French Un Chapeau de paille d'Italie) a five-act farce by French dramatist Eugène Marin Labiche (1815–1888).

Performance history in South Africa

Leonard Schach directed the Little Theatre Players in this play at the Little Theatre in December 1953. Décor by Frank Graves, costumes by Doreen Graves. The cast: Felicity Bosman, Yvonne Bryceland, Jane Fenn, I.M. Grusd, Donald Inskip, Charles Johnman, Diana Lazar, Marjorie McCall, Paul Malherbe.

Translations and adaptations

PACT staged an Afrikaans translation with the title Die Italiaanse Strooihoed which Francois Swart directed at the Intimate Theatre in 1966.
