The Irish Post is a comic drama in two acts by J.R. Planché (1796-1880)[1].

First performed at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, London, on 28 January 1846, published by T.H. Lacy.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1864: Performed by Thomas Brazier, Mrs Brazier and local amateurs in the Theatre Royal on 12 December, as a farewell for the Braziers, who were leaving for Port Elizabeth. The evening also featured a performance of Time Tries All (Courtney) and a farewell speech by Brazier.

1868: Performed in Cape Town by the Lanarkshire Dramatic Club (amateur players from the 99th Regiment) in the Garrison Theatre, Cape Town, on 21 October, with Ici on Parle Français (Williams), Irish songs by Lieutenant Tanner and a song ("The Long-tail'd Blue"") by "the infant phenomenon".
