The Insatiables is a comedy/thriller conceived and written by Jonathan Rands and Tim Plewman.

The original text

It is an example of “industrial theatre”, in which the plot is at the service of the overall message of ethics within a corporate or industrial environment. Rands and Plewman play two conniving white-collar fraudsters, once school mates, vying for the same executive position at a reputable corporation. The only other role is that of a psychologist, played at various times by Jennifer Steyn, Adrienne Pearce and, in Grahamstown, by Ameera Patel.

The play had its premiere at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in 2008 and was taken on tour to both Cape Town and Johannesburg. It was staged at various corporate venues, as well as at Pieter Toerien’s Theatre on the Bay and the Montecasino Theatre, both in 2009. It was directed by Clare Stopford and won an award as the best play at the 2008 South African Comedy Awards.
