The Fur Coat is a play by A.G. Macdonell (1895-1941)[1]

The original text

A play about the revolt and amusing revenge taken by Theodora, owner of the fur coat, when her lover, Dominic, a confirmed sponger and persistent philanderer, pawns her fur coat to raise money for a dash to Paris with a young woman.

Published by Macmillan & Co in 1943.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Afrikaans by Bartho Smit as Skaakbord van die Liefde ("Chess board of love").
