The Flapper. A direct translation of La Gamine by ****, translated and transported to a South African context by Stephen Black, but produced as “a new South African play” by a local author living “in Johannesburg”. Produced to contradicting reviews in 1911, with a furore erupting about the authorship.

The play was revived at the Standard Theatre, Johannesburg, in February 1917 with Black in the role of Henry Fenton, Cecil Kellaway, Margaret van Hulsteyn, Dolly Sinclair, Erie Drew, Mabel Morton, Frikkie Paget, Herbert Traynor, Justus Gerard, Lilian Bell. (Stage and Cinema, 4(82):9.)
