The Fight for the Fat Widow is play by an unknown local author.

The original text

Created by a local author and/or the performers, it is most likely to have been a parody[1] on local persons and events. This seems to have been the only presentation and no text exists.

Performance history in South Africa

Ca. 1857-1862: Called a "drama" in the publicity pieces, it was performed as part of a "Great Attraction" (probably a pantomime evening) presented in the Theatre Royal, Ceres, along with other locally devised items, such as the "laughable farce" of Wishing for Justice and the comedy Fined 5s., for Form's Sake.
