The Fence (2003) is a one-man show about gay issues, written by Peter Hayes. It was inspired by the notorious murder of the gay American university student Matthew Shepard [1] in Wyoming in 1998.

First performed, starring the author and directed by Jacqui Singer, in 2003 in the Studio at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town. Lighting by Mannie Manim.
