The Breaking of Bread is a one-act play by William Watson ()[].

The original text

Set in the American Civil War, it is about two opponent soldiers who decide to lay down their arms and break bread together.

Published in Baker's Plays, 1961.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Afrikaans by Tinus Visser as Niks Behalwe Brood Nie ("Nothing but bread").
