The Artful Dodge is a one act farce by E.L. Blanchard (1820–1889)[1]

The original text

First performed at the Olympic Theatre, London, on 2 February, 1842 and published in London by Thomas Hailes Lacy in the same year. Also published by Samuel French.

Performance history in South Africa

1877: Performed by the Disney Roebuck company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on 13 September, with Milky White (Craven).
