The Anniversary is an English translation of Zhubilei (1892) a Russian comic one-act play by Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) [1]. It is a hilarious study of the celebrations attendant upon the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of a bank, considerably interrupted by the love-affairs of the bank manager.
