KAPP, Tertius. (19**-) Afrikaans poet, playwright, director, actor and producer.

Biography

Training

Went to school in Cape Town, then studied at the University of Stellenbosch, originally doing a BA, then a B.Sc, completing a Hons B.Sc in Physics. He later also obtained an MA in Creative Writing ("Kreatiewe Skryfkunde") in the Department of Afrikaans.

Career

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

A founder member of Tart en Koggel Produksies.

Playtexts include Harmse (2006), Al Dobberend (“Floating”, Innibos, 2006), ** Sielsiek (“Mentally disturbed”, with Willem Anker, at Aardklop, 2006), Rooiland, Oorsee, *

He adapted Anchien Troskie's novel Dis ek, Anna and Die staat teen Anna Bruwer into the acclaimed feature film Dis ek, Anna ("It's Me, Anna", 2014).

As producer responsible for Harmse, De Familie Wagenaer, Terre'Blanche and Skroothonde.

As actor played Eugene Terre'Blanche, a cross-dressing french singer, Hendrik Wagenaer, Gert Breekyster and “Die Dwergreus” (the “dwarf-giant”) in Neels van Jaarsveld’s Wit Sneeutjie en die Dwergreus (“White Little Snow and the Dwarf-giant”)

Awards

He was awarded the Aardklop-Smeltkroesprys in 2011 for his drama Rooiland. His play Oorsee will be seen at Aardklop in 2013.

He was awarded the Hertzog Prize for his plays Rooiland and Oorsee in 2015.
