Tertius Kapp (1979-) is an Afrikaans poet, playwright, scriptwriter, director, actor and producer.

Biography

Went to school in Cape Town, then studied at the University of Stellenbosch, originally doing a BA, then a B.Sc, completing a Hons B.Sc in Physics. He later also obtained an MA in Creative Writing ("Kreatiewe Skryfkunde") in the Department of Afrikaans.

He worked freelance, spent a few years in the television industry, after which he lectured in the Department of Dutch and South African Studies at Adam Mickiecz University in Poznań, Poland for four years, then became a lecturer in the Department of Afrikaans at Fort Hare University.

Career

Originally wanted to be a poet or novelist, but became involved in theatre, most forcibly so with the founding of the company Tart 'n Koggel Produksies in 2003, of which he was a founding member.

A founder member of Tart 'n Koggel Produksies.

With Vicky Davis he adapted Wilma Stockenström's novel Die kremetartekspedisie as a play, produced as a B.A. Honnours production by Davis.

He adapted Anchien Troskie's novel Dis ek, Anna and Die staat teen Anna Bruwer for the screen as the acclaimed feature film Dis ek, Anna ("It's Me, Anna", 2015). He wrote Liewer performed at the Woordfees and also at KKNK in 2018.

As producer/director responsible for Harmse, Sielsiek De Familie Wagenaer, Terre'Blanche and Skroothonde.
