Tarts is a cabaret-style mini-musical by Kevin Feather.

The original text

The piece depicts one night in the life of three street hookers who share their dreams and realities, their trials and tribulations.


Performances

1985: First opened on August 13 in The Laundro, a small experimental venue under the stage of the Alexander Theatre in Johannesburg. Original choreography by Claire Robins, additional choreography by Trish McKenna, musical arrangements by Kevin Feather. Lighting design by Skip Wright. The cast: Gaby Lomberg, Jenny de Lenta, Ashleigh Sendin with Kevin Feather as the "Piano Man". It enjoyed sell-out seasons, standing ovations and acclaim from the media when it played for three years all over South Africa.

In 1995 it went to the Edinburgh Festival where it also garnered rave reviews.

In 2013 produced again by Daphne Kuhn from 26 November to 21 December at the Auto and General Theatre on the Square in Sandton. Directed by Kevin Feather, with choreography by Owen Lonzar, and featuring Judy Ditchfield, Ilse Klink and Caitlin Clerk, with Kevin Feather on the piano.
