Taraboemdery is a 1976 play by Chris Barnard. An Afrikaans play about lower class whites, threatened by the arrival of a street-wise and worldly stranger.

Performance history in South Africa

1976: An Oude Libertas commissioned work, it was first produced by SWAPAC in co-operation with NAPAC and CAPAB in Windhoek, as part of SWAPAC's 10th anniversary celebrations (1976). Directed by André P. Brink, with Mees Xteen (Koot), Johan Botha (Buks), Antoinette Kellermann (Fransien), Lida Botha (Breggie), Kobus Strydom (Ewert). Decor designed by Richard Cook, costumes designed by Alta Brink. Stage manager Dawie Malan. This production toured widely in Natal and the Northern Cape.
