Sydney Chama (19**-pre-2005). Actor, singer, dancer, director, playwright.

Biography

Born in Durban. He died before 2005, according to a comment in a newspaper article about illustrator Themba Siwela, by Nomfundo Mcetywa, published in Sunday Tribune, 27 November 2005.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He made his first professional appearance on the stage in Alan Paton's Sponono. Roles in Mkhumbane, Chief Mamba, Phiri, Son of Man, Curse of Blueblood, Meropa, Night of January 16th, Clouds and in It's a Boy! for Pieter Toerien, Driving Miss Daisy (Baxter Theatre, 1991), The Meeting, Night and Day, The Piano Lesson, The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail, Slave Trade.

Films include Operation Delta Force (TV Movie - 1997), Cry, the Beloved Country (1995), Freedom Fighter, Ipi-Tombi (TV movie) 1982; Rage to Kill, Game For Vultures, Zulu Dawn (1979) and The Wild Geese (1978), , Ses Soldate (1975), etc.
