Suzanne van Wyk (19**-199*). Actress and director for stage and radio, speech and drama teacher.

Also credited as Suzaan van Wyk, Suzanne van Wijk.

Biography

Born in Loxton, Cape Province. Married to Willem van der Berg.

Training

Followed a course in Speech and Drama at the University of Stellenbosch and University of Cape Town. Further studies followed at the London Mask Theatre School from 1938 until her return to South Africa in 1939 with the outbreak of the Second World War.

Career

One of the founders of the Akademie vir Dramakuns in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Stellenbosch. As an actress started in Cape Town, with K.A.T. ??* In 1948 moved to the SABC in Johannesburg?*.

Acted in Die Verterende Vuur 1945, Voëlvry, Die Vroue van Troje

Directed Die Vrek (NTO 1951), Ek Onthou vir Mamma (1951), Ousus, 'n Wingerdstok sal Rank, Suster Beatrys, Roméo et Jeanette, The Rainmaker, Hedda Gabler, Die Laaste Aand.
