Susan Coetzer (19**-) actress, artist, dramatist, writer and inspirational speaker /Actress and dramatist.

On occasion listed as Susan Coetzer-Opperman.

Biography

She studied at the University of Stellenbosch.

She was married to Frank Opperman and later to Philip Moolman.

She is also an established artist, having sold hundreds of oil paintings, exhibiting in many art galleries countrywide. As a writer, she contributes to various publications on a monthly basis, and has recently released her first novel : Oros vir die Siel. Co-owner of Die Blou Hond restaurant/theatre since 2002. Die Blou Hond Teaterrestaurant en Kunsgalery.

She starred in Reza de Wet’s Diepe Grond together with Dawid Minnaar, Gys de Villiers and Doris Sihula under Lucille Gillwald’s direction at Upstairs at the Market in 1986.

Other productions include Die Sakeman van Venesië (PACT 1991), Die Mal Vrou van Chaillot, Panorama, Griet Skryf 'n Sprokie (1997).

She played in the 1992 SABC television series Meester and Noah's Ark in 2008..

She wrote Die Duiwel is 'n Ding wat Spring, Praat van die Duiwel and Partners.

Also known as “Robyn de Swart’ from 7de Laan, Susan is being regarded – by both the media and the public – as one of our best South African actresses.

Awards, etc

She was awarded 1986 as the best Afrikaans actress and also as the best newcomer for her role in Diepe Grond.

Nominee 1991 Coetzer, Susan in Die Sakeman van Venesië (PACT 1991) (Esther Roos Award for best actress in a supporting role in Afrikaans).

Over the past two decades she has received numerous Vita- and Artes awards for best leading actress in stage and TV-productions such as Griet skryf ‘n sprokie, Daizy de Melker, Meester and more.
