Stigting vir Bemagting deur Afrikaans

("Foundation for Empowerment through Afrikaans")

Originally founded under the name Stigting vir Afrikaans ("Foundation for Afrikaans") by ***, with ** as first director. Its aim was to ***. In 200* the name was changed to the Stigting vir Bemagting deur Afrikaans ("Foundation for Empowerment through Afrikaans") to change the focus and to include all peoples of South Africa, whether Afrikaans is their fisrt language or not. The foundation has since its inception been heavily involved in sponsoring theatre and other performances in Afrikaans, particularly at the various Afrikaans festivals, of which it has also been a partner.
